Dr. Blake Marsden | Optometrist
Dr. Blake Marsden completed his Doctorate of Optometry at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Throughout his training he gained considerable experience fitting contact lenses and managing ocular diseases including glaucoma at the NSU Eye Care Institute at the Sanford L. Ziff Health Care Center. Dr. Marsden completed an ocular disease focused externship at the Eye Centers of South Florida where he became experienced in ocular post-surgical care following cataract, glaucoma and corneal surgeries. He also completed an externship at Easton Eye Care gaining experience fitting a variety of contact lenses and managing pre and post-op LASIK surgical care.
During his years at Nova Southeastern University, Dr. Marsden was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honours Society—an organization dedicated to academic excellence and professionalism and a privilege given to those who maintain an academic average of 90% or better. Dr. Marsden was consistently placed on the university’s Dean’s List for his outstanding scholastic performance throughout his academic career. He currently practices in Burlington, West Oakville and in Mississauga. He is the owner of Burlington Optometry in Burlington, the owner of Bronte Optometry in Oakville ( www.bronteoptometry.ca), and a partner at Erin Mills Optometry in Mississauga ( www.erinmillsoptometry.ca)
Before his optometric training, Dr. Marsden completed an Honours Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Toronto. In his spare time, Dr. Marsden enjoys snowboarding, tennis, international travel, and has volunteered for The Kidney Foundation of Canada for over 20 years.
Dr. Lauren Hirano | Optometrist
Dr. Hirano graduated from School of Optometry at the University of Waterloo in 1978. She did a one year Post Doctoral residency in Clinical Optometry (Primary Care) before working in Listowel, Toronto, and then back to Burlington, where she grew up. Dr. Hirano worked with Dr. Ron Watson for a few years before she started a practice in 1982 and has been in Burlington Heights Shopping Centre since 1992. She enjoys being in general practice and fitting contact lenses, including specialty fittings for keratoconics.
She is married and her present interests include golfing, curling, and traveling.
Deb has worked in the optical industry for over a decade beginning her career in retail opticals, working in an optical laboratory, and then joining an optometric practice. She not only handles the scheduling and administrative aspects of patient care but assists with pre-testing and frame selection.
Her background in the fashion industry and photography experience ensures that patients make the best style choices in eyewear.
Carol has been with the practice for several years and is the go-to person of the practice for lens information and advice. She learned optical dispensing at a busy retail optical and possesses extensive knowledge about lens technology and design. She can advise patients on the best lens choices for their needs and prescription.
Additionally, Carol keeps abreast of the latest styles and trends in eyewear ensuring that patients not only have the best lenses available for their needs but the most attractive frames.
