These are some of our favourites that you might want to include in your list of go-to establishments.
Let’s begin with Burlington’s fantastic assortment of coffee shops. These java joints will satisfy your caffeine craving and provide a selection of unique experiences across the city.
Tamp Coffee Company
Open until 7 pm Monday to Saturday, until 5 pm on Sunday
480 Brant Street & 2049 Pine Street, Unit 49
If coffee is your passion, this is probably the place in Burlington to go. They have a staff of thoroughly trained baristas and use only locally roasted beans from the GTHA. This attention to detail and local focus also extends to their food, which is pretty incredible. There are two locations, incidentally not too far from each other.
Chickadee Family Café
Open 8:30am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 1pm Saturday & Sunday
2178 Mountain Grove Avenue
A coffee shop that caters to both parents and children, Chickadee Family Café was created by a mom. She found still wanted to be able to connect with friends over coffee, in a relaxing atmosphere, but one that would keep the children entertained as well. Owned by a self-described coffee snob, the Chickadee only serves locally roasted beans and can be booked for toddler birthday parties.

Open 7 am to 10 pm Sunday to Thursday, 7 am to 11 pm Friday to Saturday
390 Brant Street & 1960 Appleby Line
This one is a reliable chain that stays open late, just in case your day doesn’t end at 6 pm, or you just fancy an evening cup of joe. The roasts are reliable, and there is a good selection of specialty coffee drinks and a good assortment of baked goods. There are two locations in Burlington and quite a few across the country, should you find yourself away on business.
Kelly’s Bake Shoppe
Open from 9am to 5pm on Monday, from 9am to 9pm Tuesday to Saturday, from 10am to 9pm on Sunday
401 Brant Street
We’ve featured Kelly’s Bake Shoppe before in our Living a Healthy Lifestyle in Burlington article, but they are definitely worth mentioning again here. The Mother-Daughter team behind Kelly’s have taken baked goods to a whole new level. The Shoppe uses only organic and fair-trade ingredients, including natural colours sourced from beet juice, plants, and flower petals. They are 100% VEGAN, gluten-free, and delicious. Not to mention the coffee served is from Toronto’s fantastic Pilot Coffee Roasters.

414 Locust Street
More than a cafe, an experience, Pane Fresco is on par with exceptional bakeries the world over. This Artisanal Bread shop and cafe was created by Marc Albanese and his wife, Felicia to bring something unique to Burlington. Having trained under Master Baker Didier Rosada, Marc will introduce you to bread as you’ve never had it before. There is also a magnificent assortment of French and Italian coffees.
Lola Choco Bar and Sweet House
Open until 10pm Tuesday to Sunday and 8pm on Monday
423 Elizabeth Street, Unit 13
Coffee, chocolate, gelato, and desserts located in the heart of Village Square. Not to mention, a Victorian afternoon tea, by reservation. This place is just another beautiful example of some of the superbly unique entrepreneurs setting up shop in Burlington.
Turner Pavilion Teahouse At Royal Botanical Gardens
Open 10am to 5pm from Monday to Thursday and
10am to 6pm Friday to Sunday
While not strictly a coffee shop, this little gem is perfect for a quick break while strolling the Gardens. Surrounded by Hendrie Park’s new Garden, the teahouse offers the ideal spot to relax in nature’s tranquillity. Enjoy a light snack and a cup of soothing tea while lounging on the patio.

This one is an old Burlington favourite, with a beautiful venue and incredible food. Perfect for special occasions, romantic evenings, or business dinners, the optional private rooms allow for a completely immersive experience.

450 Appleby Line
This brilliantly modern restaurant will leave you feeling completely inspired. It’s also home to some of the most incredible dishes and desserts anywhere in the area. Always make sure you leave room for dessert. Perfectly suitable for a working meal or a magical date night.
Downtown Bistro & Grill

Right in the heart of downtown Burlington, this casual and yet elegant establishment offers an excellent selection of dishes. Delicious pasta, fresh seafood, and tender Filet mignon are regularly on the menu together with great wines and a marvelous variety of rotating specials.

3106 South Service Road
The place in Burlington for the finest in Mediterranean cuisine. The Stonehouse specializes in gourmet, thin-crust pizzas, magnificent risotto, and pasta dishes. Not to mention, they do an incredible steak, charred broiled to your liking.
Spencer’s on the Water
Open for Lunch, through the day, and Dinner service Monday to Saturday, with Champagne Brunch on Sunday from 9:30am to 2:30pm and Dinner service at 5pm
1340 Lakeshore Road
Spencer’s on the Waterfront is one of Burlington’s culinary gems. During the warmer months, sit out on their gorgeous deck overlooking lake Ontario as you sample incredible seasonal appetizers, beautifully aged steaks, grilled lamb chops, or one of their other mouth-watering main dishes. Don’t forget to add a side of butter-poached lobster, you will not be sorry.
The Judge and Jury Local
Open every day from 11 am to 1 am
1222 Walkers Line
If you want a genuine British pub, this is what you’re looking for. Great food, fresh draught, terrific wines, not to mention an excellent spot to make new friends. Continually voted Burlington’s best Pub, it’s the perfect place to curl up with a pint by the fireplace and wait out the winter.

One of the great things about living in this city is the variety of cultural food options right at our doorstep. Rayhoon restaurant features incredible Persian cuisine in the middle of Burlington’s Village Square. The name is Persian for basil, and the authentic interior decor or al fresco courtyard patio will make you feel like you’re on holiday.
The Greenhouse Café At Royal Botanical Gardens
Open seven days a week from 11:30 am to 3 pm
An incredible selection of local meats, cheeses, and fresh produce set in the Royal Botanical Gardens. The Greenhouse Café has it all. It’s the perfect place to stop for a break after a walk through the Royal Botanical Gardens. As the seasons change, chefs work closely with RBG gardeners to fuse home-grown ingredients into a garden-to-table culinary experience.
Open Everyday for Lunch and Dinner from 11:30am, and Sunday Brunch from 10:30 am
A casual, and yet elegant, dining experience with both brilliant menu options and impeccable service. All of their cuisines are made fresh, from scratch, using only the highest quality ingredients. Loondocks pride themselves on creative French and Italian variations, using mostly local seasonal Canadian ingredients. They also offer an extensive wine list and imaginative seasonal cocktail selection.
Lettuce Love Cafe

Vegan and gluten-free, the Lettuce Love cafe will inspire you to a healthier life. Of course, the food is pretty incredible if you’re just looking for a healthier lunch. Located right in the middle of the downtown core, this is a great spot to meet friends.

A local favourite, Paradiso, has long been a Halton area institution. Perfect for a casual evening out with family or take advantage of their Monday Date Night preset menu, $60 per couple. Starting out the menu was inspired by the best of Italy, it has since expanded to provide a wide range of delightful international favourites with a Canadian twist.
